Air filters should be changed, on average, every three months. The exact amount of time is going to be highly dependent on your lifestyle. If you have pets or young children, you'll likely need to change your filter more often. Consider checking it once every single month. If you can't see through the filter, then it means that it's time to change it out for a fresh one.

You'll want to have your air conditioning unit checked out in the early spring and have your furnace checked out in the early fall to prep it for the harsh winter months ahead.
